Finding my Voice
Angele Mambangula

Picture
Five Wishes by N, Acrylic and mixed media on A4 paper
Sing, Sing, Sing!
My lips can tell that I can sing
My mouth is part of my voice
My voice is my instrument
In the morning when I wake
I hear birds singing
And I say to myself
Oh! what am I hearing from far away?
What am I hearing from far?
What is this melody?
What am I hearing from far away?
What am I hearing from far?
Yes! The birds are singing
This song is my inspiration
It sings in me
It sings to me
It sings my story
It sings to my soul
No doubt
No shame
No fear
No pain
Uplifting moments
I have an awakening
Why can’t I share my voice?
I fly to Little Amal, the refugee child who has walked across the world
I fly to Little Amal to sing a welcome song
Tina Simunye
‘We are together, we are family’
What do I hear from nearby?
What is this melody?
Yes! The people are singing
