Shamim Azad, a full time writer, is well- known in the UK as one of the best poets in Bengali. She has so far published nearly 40 books from various genres, out of which 13 are collections of poetry. Her poems appeared in various literary magazines including The New Yorker, USA. In 2023, Azad received Bangladesh’s highest literary award in poetry - the Bangla Academy Literary Award. She also received the UK's National Lottery Award and the Poet-in-Residence at 'A Poet's Agora', Athens.
শামীম আজাদ, বিলেতের অন্যতম জনপ্রিয় বাঙ্গালি কবি হিসেবে পরিচিত। বিবিধ বিষয়ে প্রকাশিত প্রায় ৪০ খানা গ্রন্থের মধ্যে ১৩ খানাই বাংলা কবিতার। আমারিকার স্বনামধন্য ‘দি নিউ ইয়র্কার’ ম্যগাজিন সহ সারা বিশ্বের নানান সাহিত্য পত্রিকায় তাঁর লেখা ও কবিতা ছাপা হয়েছে। তাঁর বিশেষ অর্জনের তালিকায় রয়েছে কবিতার জন্য বাংলাদেশের সর্বোচ্চ সাহিত্য পুরস্কার ‘বাংলা একাডেমী সাহিত্য পুরস্কার ২০২৩ সহ যুক্তরাজ্যের ‘ন্যাশনাল লটারি এওয়ার্ড’ এবং গ্রীসের ‘এ পোয়েটস আগোরার’র আবাসিক কবির সম্মাননা। লেখালেখিই আজাদের জীবিকা।
