Cries of a migrant in search of freedom
Jeanette Cathy Jones

Hear my cry for freedom.
Dry my tears for I am in pain and agony.
I have travelled for miles in search
of freedom.

Can someone save me
from this suffering?
I took risks and survived the worst,
now I seek the best.

Hear my cry for freedom
as I was separated from my loved ones
and I lost everything.

Alone I wonder
tormented, as I cry,
as I long to hear the songs of freedom.
Walk with me.
Feel the pain.

Free me from brutality
Free me from oppression
Free me from destitution and poverty.

Embrace me with love
and compassion in my pursuit
for freedom.

This is the bitter cry of a desperate migrant,
lost and alone.
Heal my wounded soul.

In utter despair
I am haunted by painful memories
Release me
I try to hide my fears,
but I still shed a tear
I am gasping for sanctuary.
My dear -
hear my cry for freedom.

Amidst the chaos
trauma, tragedy and desolation;
only faith, hope, trust,
beauty, resilience, and love
can rebuild a new me
I seek love
I seek kindness
I seek freedom.
