Love Is
Jolin Tang

Love is not romance
or relationships
Love is about death

Love is in a cheap rented house
with a cover on the sofa
and dust in your closet

Love is a walk to places you have been
Love is a cry towards stars on a sunny evening
Love is an extreme missing

Love has no meaning
Love itself is meaning
Love is wanting to touch
but touching air
Love is wanting to talk
but talking with myself

Love is not a flower
Love is the deepest sea
Love is an unmarked border
and I cross it with my finger and nerve

Ms. Jolin Tang is a poet pursuing an MPhil in Arts, Creativity, and Education at the University of Cambridge. With over eight years of experience writing poetry and lyrics in both Chinese and English, she explores poetry's role in artistic practice and academic research. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Hong Kong, with publications in literary journals across China, Macau, and Hong Kong.
